LAWTON, Okla. – The No. 16 Cameron Aggies (9-1, 8-1 LSC) pounded out double digit hit numbers in both games of Saturday’s double header to complete the three-game sweep of the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico (1-8, 0-5 LSC).
Cameron won the first game, scheduled for seven innings, 8-3 and forced the scheduled nine inning game to end early after a 16-3 thumping of the Greyhounds through seven innings.
In game one, Cameron center fielder
Chase Larsson got the action going early with a monster blast to right field to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead. Larsson then doubled to right field in the third to bring in
Josh Dawson to make it 2-0.
Cameron really got it going in the sixth inning, adding six runs after recording two outs right away in the inning.
Left fielder
Taylor Lyons got it going with a sharply hit ball to the short stop that was unable to be handled which was credited as an error and allowed first baseman
Andrew Garcia to score to make it 3-0. A Dawson double drove in two runs while
Brad Blumer came up with a single to drive it another to make it 6-0.
Larsson added to his already impressive day with another home run, this time putting two runs on the board to make it 8-0.
The Greyhounds threatened in the seventh, adding three runs of their own, but were unable to complete any comeback as Davidson picked up the win in the day’s first game.
Davidson pitched six complete innings, gave up seven hits, three earned runs, and struck out six.
In game two, the Ags got going early with four runs in the first inning including another Larsson double to drive in the game’s first run.
Up 4-0 in the fourth,
Kenny Held took a 1-1 pitch out of the park for a three-run shot to bring in Blumer and Larsson and make the game a 7-0 Aggie advantage. Cameron added two more in the inning to make it 9-0.
The Greyhounds added a single run in their half of the fifth to make it 9-1 before Cameron exploded for six more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Dawson did half the damage in the inning with his 2-0 double to right field to drive in three runs.
Up 15-1, the Ags added one more run for good measure in the sixth on a Held home run.
Eastern added two runs off Aggie reliever Daniel Romero in his first appearance of the season but that was as close as they would come.
