LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron Aggies senior right hander Ricky Cramer scattered seven hits and struck out as many over a complete nine-inning performance to lead the Aggies (13-4, 9-3 LSC) over the Falcons of Texas Permian Basin on Sunday afternoon at McCord Field.
Nate Valdez and Joe Halley were both 3 of 4 from the plate to lead the Aggies offensively. As a team, CU racked up 16 hits to push their winning streak to three games.
In the first, the Falcons threatened to get on the board early as Andrew Quiring drew a one-out walk to become the first base runner. Jeremy Miller’s single pushed Quiring over to second and following a strikeout Michael Rice singled to right field. Quiring came around the corner on the play and was gunned down at home on a perfect throw from CU right fielder Kenny Held.
P.J. Ortega picked up his 14th RBI of the season as he drove in Brad Blumer to put the Ags up 1-0 in the third.
Cameron added another run in the fourth behind a pair of Halley and Valdez doubles to make it 2-0.
In the sixth, Head Coach Todd Holland’s squad doubled their lead to 4-0 as they shelled newly inserted Falcon pitcher Ryan Escarcega for two runs and three hits including a four-pitch bases load walk to Taylor Lyons to bring in a run.
UTPB added its only run in the seventh but CU put up two more in the bottom stanza to make the game’s final score of 6-1.
The Aggies return to the diamond on Tuesday when they host USAO at McCord Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
