ADA, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies (23-11, 16-8 LSC) posted 34 points and 29 hits over two games to complete their sweep of the East Central Tigers (9-27, 5-22 LSC) at Tiger Field in Ada on Saturday.

The Aggies opened the day with a 19-5 thumping of the Tigers in seven innings and took the second game 15-4 in eight innings.

Chase Larsson, the nation’s top home run hitter, continued to build his lead at the top spot with a three-home run day in the opener to tie a school and Lone Star Conference record for the most home runs in a game.

Teammate Kenny Held, the nation’s No. 2 home run hitter, also tied the record earlier this season with three roundtrippers against Augustana on March 22

In game one, the Aggies jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first two frames to set the tone for the game. Larsson muscled out his first homer of the game to right field for three runs, part of an eight RBI day for the Vancouver native and another school record.

Larsson becomes just the third Aggie to tally eight RBIs in a single game, tying Dave Justice and Rod Cain’s record set in 2003 and 1989, respectively.

ECU jumped onto the board with a single run in the third but the Aggies responded with two more in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth en route to their second run-rule situation in as many games.

Wade Myatt (3-1) picked up the win on five innings of solid pitching. The junior righty scattered four hits and allowed three runs (two earned) while walking three batters and striking out a pair.

Every Cameron batter recorded at least one hit in the 17 hits affair while Larsson lead the way, going 4-for-4 at the plate, on his record tying game.

In the series finale, Clay Vanderlaan (2-1) grabbed the win on five innings of work. He allowed four runs (three earned) and scattered four hits in his time on the bump.

Josh Dawson and Held led the Aggies at the plate as all but one Aggie recorded at least one RBI in the 12 hit affair.

Dawson went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of singles and a home run to left field in the second inning. He also came across for the game’s first run by way of Nate Valdez’s sacrifice fly to left field in the first inning.

Held went 2-for-2 but drew three walks as pitchers stay away from the nations best run producer. His two hits, a triple and a homer to right center, led to three of CU’s 15 runs on the afternoon.

The Tigers found early success at the plate as they kept the margin as close as it had been all series, but up 6-4 heading into the eighth, the Aggies found their stroke and forced their third consecutive run rule situation by posting seven runs to push their lead to 11, 15-4.

Contributing to that total was a two RBI triple off the bat of Larsson to right center and back-to-back singles through the left side by Joe Halley and Valdez.

For the series, the Aggies batted a whopping .429 (42-of-98) with five homers, eight doubles and three triples. Larsson led the way at the plate, going 8-for-10 (.800) with three homers, two triples and 14 RBIs.

On the mound, CU earned a paltry 2.05 ERA over the three game series. Ricky Cramer led the way with his no-hitter in the series opener.

The Aggies will return to the diamond on Friday, April 15 when they play host to LSC rival Southeastern Oklahoma. The Savage Storm are coming off a 2-1 series victory over West Texas A&M and will bring the conference’s No. 2 ranking onto McCord Field. First pitch for the opener is slated for 3 p.m.
