Cameron Falls To West Texas 12-2

CANYON, Texas (March 16, 2012) — Cameron’s Baseball Team lost 12-2 Friday to West Texas A&M in game one of its opening conference series.

“We didn’t play very good,” said Head Coach Todd Holland. “We came out flat. They made us pay by hitting the ball really, really well, and we just couldn’t get a hit. Their pitcher did a pretty good job of getting us off balance, but really we came out flat.”

The Buffs (12-4, 1-0) got off to an early start on Cameron starter, Jordan Watson, picking up eight runs on 10 hits and one run on reliever Kyle Ketchum in the first three innings to post an early 10-0 lead.

The Aggies (11-11, 0-1) picked up a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Nick Smith, scoring Andy Garcia. Garcia singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a pass ball.

WT added three more runs in the sixth inning to go up 12-1 and enforce the seven-inning run rule.

The Black and Gold were able to score one run in the top of the seventh as Thomas Galvin came around to score on a wild pitch.

The teams will return to action with a doubleheader Saturday. The opening pitch is set for 4 p.m.
