Aggies lose game one of WT series 20-8

Box Score

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron Aggie baseball team falls in a pitcher’s nightmare of a game, 20-8, against West Texas A&M at McCord Field.

With this being the first game of the Aggies’ first conference series of the season, Cameron is now 6-10, with a 0-1 Lone Star Conference series. West Texas, who is now 13-6 on the year, gained their first conference win of the season.

Offense was a premium in this game as the Buffs scored in all but one of the eight innings played and the Aggies scored in four innings.

Cameron got a run in the second inning to tie the ball game at one run a piece, off of a Kevin Lum sacrifice fly ball that scored Kaz Sanders.

After a three run third inning and a seven run fourth inning in which the Buffs batted around, CU would get three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. One run came off of an error by the WT second baseman and another coming off of a Brad Blumer RBI single.

West Texas would get two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, followed by three runs in the bottom of the inning from the Aggies. Lum drove in another run via a sac fly, while the other two runs were scored off of a RBI groundout and RBI single.

The buffs continued to score in the sixth inning, but Cameron would win the inning, getting two runs off of a Kenny Acosta big fly over the left field wall.

While the Aggies would be held scoreless in the final two innings, West Texas scored another run in the seventh and then struck for five runs in the eighth.

The two teams totaled 28 runs, 34 hits, and left 23 runners on base.

Cameron’s Justin Walker gets his third loss of the season, going three innings and giving up six earned runs.

The Aggies offensive production came from Kenny Acosta, who was 2-5 with two RBIs, Kevin Lum, who had two RBI’s on 1-3 from the plate, and Brad Blumer, who went 2-3 with two RBI’s.

The teams will play a seven inning double header tomorrow with the first game starting at 1 p.m. and the second scheduled for 3 p.m.
