Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – Early runs by West Texas proved to be too much for Cameron to come back from falling 10-4 in the last game of their four game series at McCord Field on Sunday afternoon.  The Aggies fell to 8-11 overall and 2-2 in Lone Star Conference play, while the Buffs improved to 14-8 and 2-2 in the LSC.
Cameron racked up 10 hits and was led by leadoff man, Nick Smith who went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, and a RBI. Tomas Galvan went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Kenny Acosta hit a two run homer for CU.
Jordan Watson started the game for Cameron going four innings, giving up eight runs (five earned), off of nine hits.
West Texas got a pair of runs in each of the first three innings before Cameron responded back with a run in the bottom of the third. However the Buffs would score two more in the top of the fourth to set the Aggies back 8-1 after four innings.Â
Nick Smith homered for the Aggies to start the fifth inning but the Buffs scored two more runs in the top half of the eighth making it a 10-2 ballgame.Â
In the bottom half of the inning Acosta belted a two run homer over the left field wall scoring Galvan who hit a one out single earlier cutting down the WT lead to 10-4. Â
Cameron in the bottom of the ninth got a one out single from Colton Davis but the Ags would fly out and strike out to end the game with a 10-4 loss to the Buffs.
This will be the first and last home series for Cameron in the month of March; they will start a nine game road trip starting on Tuesday playing Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant at 1 p.m.
