Aggies drop night game against ACU

Box Score

ABILENE, Texas—The Aggie baseball team lost their second game of the ACU tournament Saturday evening, 7-2, to the host team Abilene Christian.

Pitching and defense were the focus in the first three innings, with no runs being scored by either team and only five total hits in the game.

That all changed in the bottom of the fourth, when ACU sprang for four runs on four hits: an RBI single, a two RBI double, and a sac fly to center field.

After a scoreless fifth inning, the Wildcats offense put together another four run inning in the sixth inning, this time on a three RBI triple and an RBI single.

Cameron would put their first run on in the board in the top of the eighth off of a Tomas Galvin RBI single to center that scored Brandon Raidy who got on base earlier in the inning on a leadoff double.

The Aggies added another run in the ninth, after Nick Smith reached base on a leadoff single and then was driven in by a Kenny Acosta double down the left field line. Unfortunately, the next two batters were retired to end the game.

The lose went to Drew Reidt (0-2), who went three and a third innings, gave up two earned runs, and struck out one.

Cameron got a 3-4 game out of Nick Smith, who also scored one of the Aggies run. Additionally, both Tomas Galvin and Kenny Acosta had a RBI.

The Aggies, now 3-9 on the season, will play their third and final game of the ACU tournament Sunday at 1 p.m. against Eastern New Mexico.
