First inning runs doom Aggies in loss

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and kept Cameron limited to six hits, winning 10-3 on Friday night at the Greyhound Field in Portales.

ENMU, (13-10, 1-4 LSC) which collected 13 hits in the game, was led by Derek Crenshaw, who finished with two hits and three RBIs.

Cameron (8-13, 2-3 LSC) was led by Kenny Acosta, who had two doubles, and a run scored.  Tomas Galvin added two hits with a RBI. 

Aggie starting pitcher Brian Schwabe (1-2), allowed eight runs on 12 hits with three walks and two punch outs. CU relievers Tim Eason, Dillon Leveille, and Colton Davis combined to toss the final 4.2 innings, allowing two runs.

ENMU scored four runs on six hits in the bottom of the first inning, before Cameron got a run back in the top of the second that started with an Acosta double.  He would later score off of an ENMU error.

The Greyhounds would continue to pound out runs on Aggie pitching getting a run in the third, three more in the fourth, and another run in the fifth.

Cameron cut down the deficit in the top half of the sixth pushing across two runs off of two hits.  Brandon Raidy started the inning with a walk and then was drilled home off a double from Keaton Green.  Galvin would later drive Green home off a single down the right field line to make it a 9-3 ballgame.

Eastern New Mexico would return the favor in the bottom frame that started with back-to-back walks. They would score off a sacrifice bunt to extend the Greyhound lead to seven. 

From there the Aggie bats went silent as the Greyhound pitching would allow one hit in the final three innings en route a 10-3 win.

Cameron will continue the series with Eastern New Mexico on March 23 with a seven inning double-header starting at 1 p.m.
