Box Score

ABILENE, Texas—The Cameron bats were in support of a dominant start by Drew Reidt as the Aggies get a 8-0 shutout of the Abilene Christian Wildcats Friday evening.

Cameron (11-22; 5-12 LSC) got a complete game shutout from Reidt, who is now 2-3 on the season. Reidt went the complete nine innings, allowed only six Wildcat hits, walked two, and struck out two. On the other side of things, The Aggie offense struck for eight runs on 11 hits and one ACU error.

Nick Smith was 3-5 with a run scored and a run driven in to lead the Aggies. Additionally, Brad Blumer and Kenny Acosta both had two hits and a run scored each. Blumer also drove in one run, while Acosta drove in an additional two runs. Thomas Galvin was also able to strike for two hits in the game.

For the Abilene Christian (22-16; 10-7 LSC), Jordan Herrera got the loss and is now 5-3 on the season. Six different Wildcats got a hit, but the team could not put a decent rally together throughout the game.

The Aggies got the ball rolling in a good way, striking for three runs in the top of the first inning. Keaton Green led off the inning with a single to center field and was followed by a single to left by second baseman Kaz Sanders. Smith then came up in the third spot and singled, which resulted in Green scoring on an error by the pitcher and Sanders advancing to third. Sanders was then driven in on a sacrifice fly to center by Blumer. After the second out of the inning, Acosta drove in the Aggies’ third run of the inning on a double to left.

Both teams were held scoreless through the next four innings, with both Reidt and Herrera on their game early.

The Aggies would add to their 3-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Blumer reached on a one out double and then was driven in by Acosta two batters later. Acosta then scored on a single by Galvin, but Galvin was thrown out trying to stretch his single into a double to end the inning.

Cameron would put another two spot on the board in the top of the seventh inning. Colton Davis led off the inning with a walk and then advanced to second after Kevin Lum got hit by a pitch in the next at bat. After advancing one base on a balk and a Green strikeout, Davis scored on a groundout to first by Sanders. Lum then scored on a Smith single to right field.

The Aggies would end up scoring another run in the eighth inning after loading the bases and then pushing across Brandon Raidy on a double play.

Reidt would allow only one hit in the bottom of the inning and then get a one two three bottom of the ninth to get the shutout victory.

The two teams will be in action again Saturday afternoon when they play a doubleheader (7 inning games) with the first game starting at 2 p.m.
