Aggies lose final game at Abilene Christian, 12-4

Box Score

ABILENE, Texas -- The Cameron University baseball team dropped a 12-4 decision to Abilene Christian on the road Sunday afternoon in Abilene, Texas.  Thomas Galvan went 3-3 with a run scored for the Aggies in the loss.

After taking the first game of the series on Friday night, Cameron fell in the last three games of the series to drop their Lone Star Conference record to 5-15, and 11-25 overall.

The Wildcats struck first in the bottom of the third after they drew a pair of one out walks.  Kyle Giusti would then single to center field to score the first run of the game.

After the Aggies went scoreless in the top of the fourth, ACU pounded out seven hits, and five runs on Cody Hudson to take a 6-0 lead on CU.

Cameron jumped on the scoreboard in the seventh inning after Brandon Raidy led off with a double to left field.  Kenny Acosta followed up and nailed a single to score Raidy in from second.    After a Wildcat pitching change, Galvan singled to right field to put runners at first and second.   A wild pitch advanced Galvan and Acosta to second and third before Kevin Lum scored Keaton Green off a ground out.

Cameron added their third run of the inning off a Green single to score Galvan; the Aggies would close to the ACU gap to a 6-3 ballgame.

Despite the three runs Cameron scored in the top half of the inning, the Wildcats tagged six more runs off of CU relievers, Jordan Watson and Brent Hendy.  Abilene Christian batters drew three walks and four hits to take the 12-3 advantage after seven innings.

The Aggies scored the final run in the eighth after Tyler Cox came in as a pinch hitter and got a one out double to right center field.  Acosta would later score Cox off of a single.

Acosta finished the game 2-4 with two RBI, and a run.  Raidy added a pair of hits with a run scored.

Hudson took his second loss of the season on the mound for the Aggies.  Hudson allowed six runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out one.

Cameron returns to action on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Southeastern Oklahoma at McCord Field starting at 2 p.m.
