STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Cameron University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Tarleton State Saturday, falling 4-3 in game one and 9-3 in the nightcap at Cecil Ballow Field in Stephenville.

The Aggies were able to collect six hits, with Kas Sanders recording two base knocks. Colton Davis provided a pair of hits, including a RBI single that scored two in the fifth inning.
Tarleton State didn't have an offensive outburst but collected a run in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth inning. Two of those runs came off of defensive lapses by the Aggies in the fourth and fifth innings to help give the Texans the advantage.
Drew Reidt (3-4) started on the mound for the Aggies, tossing the complete game while allowing two earned runs and striking out two.
The Texans took the early lead in game two, scoring a pair in the second inning, and adding one more in the third. Cameron would be held down to a two hitter before Tarleton State knocked in three runs in the sixth to lead 6-0.
The Aggies cut into the lead in the seventh, with CU getting pair of singles before Davis hit a RBI single into center field. Despite the CU run, the Texans took advantage of an Aggie error to score three more runs in the bottom frame to lead 9-1.
Cameron would get a run back in the eighth off of a Tyler Cox single and one more in the ninth from Kenny Acosta but the Texans would sweep the doubleheader and earn their first Lone Star Conference Regular Season title 9-3.
Steve Matta (0-5) started game two for the Aggies and went 5.1 innings, while giving up five earned runs, and striking out three. Jordan Watson and Will Thomas both pitched 1.1 innings out of the bullpen for Cameron.
The Aggies (12-31, 6-20 LSC) will close out their season on Sunday, April 28 with two more games against Tarleton State starting at 1 p.m.
