Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Defensive lapses proved to be a key factor as the Cameron University baseball team committed five errors and dropped both games to Tarleton State on Sunday, 5-1 in game one and 7-4 in the nightcap at Cecil Ballow Field in Stephenville.

Box Score Game 1 | Box Score Game 2

The Aggies collected six hits in the first game, with Nick Smith collecting a pair of hits. Kenny Acosta scored Cameron's lone run in the sixth off of a Tarleton State error.

The Texans jumped out on top scoring a pair of unearned runs in the first inning, they would tack on a run in the third, fifth, and sixth. Tarleton State batters would collect 12 hits and went 6-12 with two outs in the 5-1 win over Cameron.

Aaron Kleekamp (3-6) tossed a complete game on the mound for CU, allowing three earned runs and striking out five.

For the first time in the series the Aggies would take the early lead in game two after scoring a pair in the second inning. After a one out double by Brandon Raidy, Colton Davis singled up the middle for a RBI. Kevin Lum kept things going for CU with a double to right field to score Davis in and give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.

However, Cameron would be kept off the board by Tarleton State who used seven different pitchers on the mound. The Texans would score a run in the third and two more in the fifth and six to overtake the Aggies, 5-2 after six. The runs in the third and fifth all came off of Cameron errors.

In the eighth, Cameron got Smith single to start the inning; then Kenny Acosta smashed his fifth homer of the season to get CU within one.

Despite the CU surge, Tarleton came back getting a two out single in the bottom frame for two insurance runs and to beat Cameron 7-4.

Cody Hudson (1-4) tossed six innings on the mound for CU and gave up two runs while striking out two. Will Thomas pitched a scoreless inning out of pen and Jordan Watson went an inning while giving up two runs.

Cameron ends their season with a 12-33 overall record and 6-22 Lone Star Conference record.
