Both teams split four game series

Box Score

LAWTON, Okla. – Texas A&M Kingsville erupted for 15 runs on 23 hits on Cameron pitching to win the final game of the four game series, 15-2 on Sunday afternoon at McCord Field.

Cameron (10-22, 4-12 LSC) won the first two games of the series but Kingsville would win the final two to end the weekend.  Kaz Sanders gave Cameron a hit and RBI, and Brandon Raidy hit a solo home run for CU’s scoring effort.

Tim Eason (0-1) made his first career start for the Aggies tossing 2.2 innings of work giving up five runs off of ten Kingsville hits.  Jordan Watson came in as a reliever going 5.1 innings and gave up five runs (three earned), and Brent Hendy tossed the ninth for the Ags.

Texas A&M Kingsville (24-12, 7-8 LSC) had seven different players with multi-hit afternoons.  Cash Barker led the Javelinas with three hits and three RBI.

Kingsville started with the early edge getting a run off of three hits off of Eason.  The inning would end with a sharp throw from Kenny Acosta to Brad Blumer to get the runner out at first base.

Cameron matched the Javelinas in the bottom frame after Keaton Green started the inning off with a single.  Green would advance to third after a miss played pickoff throw from the mound to first.  Sanders then sent Green home for the unearned run off a single to even the game at one apiece.

The scoring continued in the top of the second with Kingsville tagging Eason for two more runs off of three hits.  Two more runs would cross home plate in the third inning before Watson came in out of the bullpen, the Javelinas would led 5-1 after 2 ½ innings.

Watson wouldn’t fare much better in the top of the fourth giving up two more runs off of two Kingsville hits to make it a 7-1 lead.

In the bottom frame, Raidy smacked a no-doubt homer over the left field fence to give the Ags their second run.

However things got out of hand in the final third of the game with Kingsville knocking in a run in the seventh, two in the eighth, and five in the ninth inning to beat Cameron 15-2.

The Aggies will have a short break before traveling to Ada on April 9 to play a nine inning game against East Central at 2 p.m.
