LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron baseball team are looking to keep their perfect record going in a four game series with Texas-Permian Basin this weekend.
The 2-0 Aggies got their two wins by sweeping a double header with East Central on Feb. 1 (2-1; 7-1). Starters,
Tobin Mateychick and
Drew Reidt both had solid six inning outings, and were supported by a couple of scoreless innings by
Josh Neilson and
Ryan Daspin. On offense,
Brad Blumer went 3-7 with three runs to lead the Aggies, while
Kas Sanders was 2-6 with two runs of his own. Newcomers
Jordan Climpson and
Garrett Schaede were both 2-7 with two RBI each.
Due to inclement weather, the third game of the ECU series and the home opener with Southwestern Oklahoma State were postponed, and Cameron enters the weekend with only two games under their belt instead of four.
The UTPB Falcons enter the series with a 1-2 record after a series with Southwestern Oklahoma State this past weekend. Individually, Andrew Grifol leads them with a .333 batting average, a run, and a RBI, while Neil Madsen has three RBI of his own. On the pitching side, Grifol struck out seven and gave up two hits in a five inning outing in game three of the series, and was relieved by Brad Paramapoonya who got the win after going two innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.
The two teams will play a pair of double headers on Saturday and Sunday, with first pitch set for noon on both days.
