Box Score 2 ODESSA, Texas – The Aggie baseball team went down south to face Texas-Permian Basin this afternoon, and came away empty handed, losing both games of the double header and are now 2-2 on the season.
In game one of the double header, Cameron got on the board first via a
Jordan Climpson RBI single in the top of the first, but UTPB tied it up in the bottom of the frame. Cameron put two more on the board in the second, after back to back RBI singles from
Kas Sanders and
Brad Blumer. The Falcons took the lead from CU, thanks to Jose Sierra, who hit a three run homer in the third and then drove in another in the fifth. They would win the game 5-3.
Just like in game one, the Aggies took the lead early as
Tobin Mateychick drove in two with a double. The Falcons got one back in the second, and tied the game in the third, before Sierra drove in another run to take the lead. Mateychick collected his third RBI of the game on a single that drove in Climpson in the fifth to tie it at 3-3. In the bottom of the sixth, the Falcons got the eventual winning run on a RBI single from Ty Morgan, which would earn them the 4-3 win.
Mateychick went three innings in game one, giving up four earned runs on two hits, with four punch outs and four walks and is now 1-1 for the year. Also 1-1 now,
Drew Reidt was the loser in game two, going five and two thirds innings with seven hits, two earned runs, a walk, and a strikeout.
On offense, Blumer was 4-7 with an RBI and a run scored, while Mateychick was 2-3 with three RBI.
For the Falcons (3-3), Sierra was 5-5 with five RBI and a run scored, while Brad Paramapoonya earned two saves, pitching the seventh of both games, giving up one hit, no runs, and striking out three.
The two teams will meet up again Sunday at noon for another double header.
