Box Score CANYON, Texas – The Cameron University baseball team held off a late charge by #3 West Texas A&M to take game one of the series 4-3 on Friday night. Â
Cameron's win was their first in Canyon since Mar. 5, 2011 and it was the Buffs (24-6, 13-4 LSC) sixth loss of the season. After dropping nine of their first ten Lone Star Conference contests, the Aggies have won four of their five.
A pair of runs in the second and sixth inning proved to just enough for the Aggies with
Drew Reidt (4-4) on the mound.  Reidt tossed seven strong innings while allowing five Buff hits and two runs in the win.
Tobin Mateychick came out of the bullpen to close out the game with his third save of the season.
Cameron batters had nine hits against WT pitchings whose season high was 10 this year.Â
Harold Cannon and Mateychick both pushed through a pair of hits with Cannon scoring a pair of runs.Â
The win pushes Cameron to 10-15 overall and 5-10 in the LSC.
Cameron will continue their four game series with the Buffs on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
