Cameron falls to Texas A&M Kingsville 9-4

Box Score LAWTON, Okla. –  Cameron couldn't slow down the Texas A&M Kingsville offense as they closed out the sweep with a 9-4 win over the Aggies on Saturday afternoon.
 
Javelina batters outscored Cameron 30-17 in the three game series as the Aggies would fall to 12-23 overall and 7-17 in the Lone Star Conference.
 
Texas A&M Kingsville struck first with a pair of runs in the first inning off of a double and sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead. 
 
In the home half of the second, Harold Cannon cut the TAMUK lead in half and put the Aggies on the board with a solo homer off the left field scoreboard to make it a 2-1 ballgame.
 
Despite CU closing the margin, Texas A&M Kingsville extended their lead with a RBI double in the fourth and an Aggie defensive miscue in the fifth with two outs would score two runners to give TAMUK a four run lead.
 
Cameron responded back from the error two runs in the fifth after a Tobin Mateychick RBI double and Matt Nilmeyer a RBI single.
 
TAMUK powered through a responded back with three homers and a RBI single in the seventh and eighth to extend their lead to 9-3 over Cameron
 
Jordan Climpson tacked on a solo homer in the bottom half of the eighth but they would fall 9-4 to Texas A&M Kingsville.
 
Nilmeyer put together a three hit day at the plate with Climpson and Mateychick both having a pair of hits.
 
Drew Reidt (4-6) went 7 1/3 innings while giving up five earned runs and he would punch out six batters, Mateychick recorded the final five outs and he would only give up an unearned run.   
 
Cameron will return to McCord Field for a non-conference nine inning contest on Tuesday against Southwestern Oklahoma at 2 pm.
