LAWTON -- The Cameron women's basketball will make their second appearance in the NCAA National Tournament this weekend, as they head to Canyon, Texas for the third time this season. The Aggies, who are an eight seed in the tournament, will be taking on the South Central Regional hosts and number-1 seed West Texas A&M in the openening round of the tournament.

Tournament NotesCameron at the NCAA tournament: The Aggies will be making their second appearance in the NCAA National Tournament with their last showing coming in 2002 where CU defeated Angelo State in the opening round 80-73 before falling to St. Mary's 64-61 in St. Joseph, MO.
Fewest Wins: Of the 64 teams in the NCAA Tournament field, the Aggies have the fewest overall wins by three and the second most losses; RMAC tournament champions, Colorado Christian has the most losses with 13.
Last Time Out: The Aggies were upset by Texas A&M-Commerce in the LSC Tournament with a score of 65-80. CU shot just 32.9 from the field, while going 7-30 from behind the arc and 12-14 at the free throw line. Cameron scored 15 points off of turnovers and eight on fastbreak opportunities, but struggled to control the ball and turned it over 17 times, resulting in 25 points for Commerce. They also allowed 12 second chance point for the Lions, losing the rebounding battle by 11.
Jazzmine Robinson led CU with 29 points, while pulling in 8 rebounds, and grabbing 2 steals. She was 7-7 from the free throw line.
Charron Montgomery added 11 points off the bench.
LSC Coach of the Year: Tom Webb was named Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year by league officials. In his seventh season, Webb led the Aggies to a 15-11 overall record and a LSC mark of 12-4, finishing in third in the league standings, the team's best league finish since 2002. In his tenure at CU, Webb has compiled a record of 76-111 and led the Ags to the conference postseason three times.
Repeating History: Cameron has won the LSC Coach of the Year award twice in program history and both seasons CU has made the tournament. Adrian Wiggins in 2002 was CU's first LSC Coach of the Year after leading the Aggies to a 25-5 overall record, he would go on and take the Head Coaching post at Fresno State and he later recruited
Emma Andrews to play for the Bulldogs. Andrews would join the CU coaching staff and in her first season with the team, she would help the Aggies make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2002.
Trip #3: Cameron will be making their third trip to Canyon, Texas this season. The Aggies played a pair of games in WT's Thanksgiving Invite and played the Buffs in LSC play; the Ags are 1-2 in Canyon this season.
Leading At The Half: Cameron has headed into halftime with the lead nine times and has won all nine contests.
LSC Newcomer of the Year: Brandi Leal became the fifth Aggie and fourth in the
Tom Webb era to be named LSC Newcomer of the year. In 26 games played she is CU's second leading scorer with 12.6 points per game and owns the program mark for three-pointers in a season with 93.
All-LSC Honors: Jazzmine Robinson and
Brandi Leal took league honors with Robinson getting a first team nod and Leal earning a second team award. Robinson earned LSC honorable mention following the 2013-14 season and was a three-time offensive player of the week by the LSC this season.
Academic All-LSC: Jade Herl was named to the LSC All-Academic team for her work in the classroom and on the court. In 53 games played at Cameron, Herl is fifth all-time with 131 make three-poiners and is third and fifth for triples made in a season.
Three Point Barrage: Through 26 games played this season the Aggies have sank 199 three pointers or 7.7 per game (14th nationally) which are both LSC highs. At the arc, Cameron is 37.5 percent (19th nationally) with Leal leading the nation with 3.58 made treys a contest.
The Robinson File: Jazzmine Robinson led the LSC with 18.5 points per game this season. She was fourth in rebounding (7.9), third in shooting percentage (44.0), fifth in assists (3.4), fifth in steals (1.9), and fourth in minutes played (31). Robinson's scoring average is the highest for an Aggie player since Phoebe Dunn had 20.3 a game in the 1990-91 season.
Second Half Recovery: The Aggies are in the NCAA Tournament with the fewest wins out of any of the other 64 teams. Cameron opened the season with a 1-6 overall record and finished their last 19 games with a 14-5 record.
Coming Up: Should Cameron upset the top ranked Lady Buffs the Aggies will play on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
