LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Cameron women's and men's tennis teams split their matches against West Alabama on Sunday, as the no 17 ranked Aggie women lost 5-3 to the no. 26 ranked Tigers and the no. 16 Aggie men won their match 6-3.
 
In the women's match, CU fell behind early, losing all but one of the doubles matches. Magdalena Kovinic and Viola Lugmayr won their match in the three doubles spot, 9-7, but the pairings of Zhenia Shviadok and Mathilde Thibaudat and Paula Gutierrez and Samantha Wood lost 8-3 and 8-5 in the one and two matches.
 
The Aggies were only able to get two points in the singles matches, as Shviadok won 6-2, 6-4 in the two singles match spot and Wood won her match 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the four spot. Gutierrez, Thibaudat and Kovinic all lost in two sets in their matches while Lugmayr's match went unfinished.
 
Cameron is now 4-4 on the season, while UWA is 10-2.
 
On the men's side, the Aggies were able to win two out of the three doubles matches as Bruno Babic and Andres Velasco won the two doubles match 8-1, and the paring of Vinicius Santos and Julen Gutierrez won 8-4 in the three spot. CU's one doubles team Felipe Oyarzun and Mateo Velasco fell 8-2 in their match.
 
In singles, CU won all but the one and six matches, as Babic won 6-3, 6-3 in the two spot, Oyarzun took down his opponent 6-1, 6-3 in the three spot, M. Velasco beat UWA's four man 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, and Gutierrez won 6-3, 6-0 in the five spot. Santos lost a tough battle 7-6, 7-5 in the one singles match, while A. Velasco lost 7-5, 6-3 in the six spot.
 
The Cameron men are now 7-6 on the season, and UWA is now 6-5.
 
Both teams will have a travel day before heading to Mobile, Ala. for their next match against Spring Hill on March 14, starting at 11 a.m.
