LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University softball team will head to Commerce, Texas to take on the Lions in a three game series this weekend.
CU is 16-5 on the season and after sweeping UT Permian Basin last weekend, they are 5-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Aggies are batting .313 as a team with 121 runs and 78 extra base hits, including 22 homers. In the circle, they have a team ERA of 4.12, striking out a total of 71 batters and holding opponents to hitting .300 against them.
Breezy McComas leads CU with a .424 average, with 16 RBI and 17 runs scored. Freshman,
Brenna Busby leads the team with six homers and 22 RBI, while her sister
Callie Busby is hitting .364 with 17 RBI. McComas and
Paige Daino are tied for second on the team with five homeruns each.
Bethany Hines is now 11-2, while boasting a 3.56 ERA in 83.1 innings pitched. She has struck out 57 hitters and opposing batters are hitting just .290 against her.
Alyssa Osterdock is 5-3 with a 5.26 ERA in 49.2 innings pitched.
Texas A&M-Commerce is 12-5 to start out the season, while winning two out of three against Tarleton State in their first conference series. As a team they are hitting .280 with 92 runs scored, while in the circle, they have a team ERA of 3.02 with 62 total punchouts.
Individually, they are led at the plate by Baylea Higgs, who is hitting .460 with 12 runs scored and 23 hits; Mariah Jameyson leads the team with 23 RB while Kinsie Hebler has a team leading four homers.
Kaite Dean has pitched 46 innings so far this season, while compiling a 6-2 record, a 2.74 ERA and 31 strikeouts.
The two teams will play a single game at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 3, and then will conclude the series with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 4.
