Aggies to battle Texas A&M-Kingsville for three games

Lawton, Okla. – The Cameron University softball team looks to rebound after losing four in a row as they host Texas A&M-Kingsville for a three game series Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. and then conclude the series with a single game on Saturday, also starting at 1 p.m.

Aggie Notes:                                        
Cameron is 23-11 on the season, with an 11-4 Lone Star Conference record. After getting swept in a doubleheader against Central Oklahoma on Monday, CU has lost four in a row and is 7-6 during the month of March. They are currently tied for second in the LSC Standings with No. 10 West Texas A&M.

Statistically, the Aggies are batting .284 as a team with 169 runs scored and 91 extra base hits, including 29 homeruns. They also lead the conference with 12 triples. On the pitching side of things, Cameron has a team ERA of 3.14 with 108 total strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .299. They also have a team fielding percentage of .960 and have gone 56-76 on the base paths.

Breezy McComas is leading the Aggies at the plate, hitting .351, while driving in 20 RBI and scoring a team high 26 runs. She also has six homers on the season and 41 for her career, which is just two shy of the Cameron career homers record of 43.

Additionally, Brenna Busby is batting .324 and is tied for the team lead in hits and homeruns. She and Paige Daino both have seven long balls on the season, which is sixth best in the LSC. B. Busby has driven in a team high 26 runs, while her sister Callie Busby has 25 RBI and Daino has 24.  

In the circle, Bethany Hines is tied for third nationally and first in the conference with 17 wins, while accumulating a 2.88 ERA in 138.2 innings pitched. She also is second in the LSC with 91 strikeouts, has three saves, and has an opponent's batting average of .286.  

Texas A&M-Kingsville Notes:
The Javelinas are 18-16 overall this season and 8-9 during league play. In their last five games, they won two out of three against Texas A&M-Commerce and then swept a doubleheader against Houston Victoria. Kingsville is batting .302 as a team and has a combined ERA of 4.19.

Individually, Victoria Schoonard-Saborio leads the team with a .400 batting average, while Roxy Chapa leads them with 28 RBI and six homers and Rachael Longoria has a team high 28 runs scored.

Leading the pitching staff is Brenna Smith, who is 7-6 with a 4.06 ERA in 79.1 innings pitched. She has 74 strikeouts on the season. Additionally, Randa Hatter is 5-5 with a 3.84 ERA and Carlie Clarke is 2-4 with a 4.12 ERA; both have over 40 punchouts in over 54 innings pitched.

Next Up:
Following the series with the Javelinas, Cameron will take on Central Oklahoma in a rematch of Monday's doubleheader loss. This time the two games will be played on Tuesday, April 4 starting at 1 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
