About the Aggies:
The Aggies come into the weekend with a 3-4 record, and are on a three game skid, after giving up 48 runs last weekend against Lubbock Christian. Offensively CU had a nine-run outburst to open the series and saw another offensive explosion on Monday to wrap up the series by scoring eight runs.
On the season,
Dillon Turney leads Cameron with a .429 batting average with six hits in 14 at bats.
Izrael Trevino has also had a good start to the season, hitting .355 with 11 hits, eight runs scored, eight RBI and a .645 slugging percentage.
On the mound,
Devin Castro has posted a 1.64 ERA with eight K's in 11.0 innings of work, while
Sean Maher leads the team with 11 strikeouts in just 7.1 innings pitched.
Scouting the Patriots
UT Tyler has only played one game so far this season when they downed Henderson State University 4-0 on Tuesday. Austin Schneider pitched his way to a win hurling just two innings. UT Tyler tossed out five different pitchers to complete nine innings of one hit ball.
Offensively, the team collected seven hits with five walks and five runners left on base and only struck out six times as a team. UT Tyler only had one extra base hit, a triple off the bat of Graham Welch who later came in to pitch in the top of the ninth.
This Patriot team is coming into this year as defending National Champions for the first time in program history. UT Tyler had a pair of seniors named to the preseason all-conference team for the American Southwest Conference in Graham Welch and Nate Imig. Welch doubles as an outfielder and southpaw pitcher, while Imig spends all of his time pitching.
On Deck:
Up next for the Aggies, they see a rare split series with Oklahoma Christian University; the two squads will play a doubleheader on both Friday and Saturday in Oklahoma City and Lawton respectively.
