LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University baseball team is set for a rare spit series this Sunday and Monday as they host William Jewell and Oklahoma Christian on Sunday, before playing both teams in Oklahoma City on Monday.

About the Aggies:
Cameron has opened up the season with a 5-5 record, winning three game series against Texas A&M-International and UT Tyler and losing in a three game set at Lubbock Christian. Last weekend against the Patriots, CU exploded for a 14-4 win in game one, before outlasting UTT 3-2 in a 10 inning contest the next day. They then were shutout, 4-0 in the series finale.
As a team, the Black and Gold are hitting just .224 with 44 runs scored and 16 extra-base hits.
Dillon Turney leads the squad with a .417 average, while
Izrael Trevino is batting .311 with a team best 14 hits, 10 runs scored, and 12 RBI. Trevino has been responsible for both of CU's homeruns and three of the other 14 multi-base knocks.
On the mound, Cameron owns a 6.05 ERA with 78 combined strikeouts in 86.1 innings pitched.
Devin Castro has emerged as the team's ace, posting a 1.59 ERA and 14 K's in three starts, while
Andrew Garza and
Sean Maher have both been solid with ERA's of just under 5.00 and a team-best 16 strikeouts.
Scouting the Cardinals:
William Jewell will make the over six-hour road trip to face the Aggies with a 3-3 record. Winning a three game set against Southwestern Oklahoma State, before dropping a three game series with Emporia State.
Anthony Hansen, the red-shirt freshman from Columbia, Mo. has started all six of the Cardinals contests and holds a jaw dropping .500 average across 22 at bats. Hansen has driven in seven runs this season, with a home run to boot. In 17 at bats, Nick Gavin holds an impressive .412 average with four extra base hits and three RBI's. Gavin, a senior from Lee's Summit, Mo. is one of 22 listed upperclassmen for the veteran laced Cardinals. The Cardinals offense has scored 32 runs so far this year, holding a +2 in the run differential category.
Mack Stephenson, a junior from Weston, Mo, leads the Cardinals on the mound with a perfect ERA (0.00) through 11 innings. Already, Stephenson has tallied 14 strikeouts and only four hits across his two starts. Tyler Murphy serves as the Cardinals best bullpen arm, in three appearances he still has yet to give up a run. Murphy holds a 1.82 WHIP. As a team, the Cardinals hold a 2.98 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP and 49 punchouts.
Scouting the Eagles:
Oklahoma Christian is off to a hot 6-1 start their lone loss coming at the hands of Texas A&M-Kingsville. The have taken down some tough teams including Central Oklahoma, who is receiving votes in the top-25 poll, and are currently ranked No. 7 in the NCBWA South Central Region Top-10.
OC has gotten a ton of offensive production with their lowest scoring game being a four-run outburst, and the highest scoring contest being 14 runs scored by the Eagles. They have come around to score 58 runs already on the young season. The Eagles are led by Blake Empkey holding a .480 average with three doubles, and a team high eight RBI's.
On the bump, the Eagles have a trio of pitchers with a sub 2 ERA (minimum of four innings). Conner Litterell has turned in a 1.50 ERA across six innings pitched. Gabe Rodery has posted a 2.45 ERA thus far this season with two starts under his belt and 11 innings. As a team, OC posts a 4.50 ERA.
