The Series:
The Aggies and Greyhounds matched up in non-conference play where the Greyhounds took two of three games against the Black and Gold. Since that series, the Aggies have gone 8-12, while the Greyhounds are 5-14. CU has broke even in conference play, going 6-6, while Eastern has only been able to muster one win in twelve tries.
Â
About the Aggies:
The 15-22 Cameron baseball team is batting .246 on the season with 223 runs scored and 80 extra-base hits. They will look for their junior hit machine
Izrael Trevino to carry the offense, as he has clubbed six home runs with a .290 batting average, to go along with his .463 on base percentage and 32 RBI.
Pierce Khan is tied with Trevino for the team-lead in homers, while driving in a CU-best 36 runs.
          Â
On the mound, the Black and Gold will hope to get a good series out of their starting staff led by
Devin Castro, who has pitched 49 innings so far this year with a 4.78 ERA. They also rely on relief ace
Sean Maher who has tossed 30 innings out of the Cameron bullpen with 37 strikeouts.
Â
Scouting the Greyhounds: Â Â Â Â
While the Aggies look to snap a four game losing streak, the Greyhounds are seeking to get off an eight game skid that has dropped their record to 13-23. Hitting has not been the problem for ENMU as they turn in a team average of .301 while scoring 208 runs so far this season. Nicholas Ankerman leads the Greyhounds at the dish as he turns in a stellar .350 batting average across his 110 at bats and has knocked in 26 RBIs.
          Â
The Greyhounds staff posts a 7.02 team ERA, with Liam Sabiston leading Eastern the team on the bump as he has hurled 17.1 innings to the tune of a 3.12 ERA. Enrique Perez has tossed just over 47 innings with a 4.15 ERA. Perez has two complete games on his resume and a team-high 54 strikeouts.
                                              Â
On Deck:
Up next for the Aggies will be a four game set in Odessa, Texas to take on UT Permian Basin, April 26-28.
