Cameron hosts Texas A&M International for four games

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron Aggie baseball team looks to rebound with a four-game set against Texas A&M International this weekend, Feb. 21-23, at McCord Field.

The 1-9 Aggies return to Lawton to host the Texas A&M International Dustdevils for a four-game set that gets underway on Friday Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.

Cameron has gotten off to a sluggish start this season. With a team ERA of 12.73, no player being able to turn in a sub-five ERA, and being run-ruled five times already on this young season, CU is looking to right the ship this weekend.

Cooper Edwards has continued his hot start to the season with a .455 average, four homers, and a pair of doubles. Edwards has also been able to drive in four runs.

Ryan Carter has starting to come along of late, as he turns in a .290 average to the tune of six extra-base hits, including four doubles.

The Dustdevils enter the series with a 3-7 record and riding a two-game losing streak. They give up 6.75 runs on average, as a team. International is led on the bump by Bryce Faust, who turns in a 3.27 ERA to the tune of a 1.18 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts.

At the plate, their offense only generates four runs a game. The Dustdevils have seen Luis Flores be a bright spot in their batting order. The El Centro, Calif. Native has seen a .405 batting average this season, with six RBI's and a pair of extra-base hits.

The Dustdevils have five more hitters with a .300 batting average or better, compared to the Aggies just three players over .300 through 10 games in 2020.

International struggles in the power department, hitting just one homer to this point. The Black and Gold have already been able to club 11 homers on the year, three of which off the bat of Israel Trevino.

Jordan Harrison-Dudley posted a successful weekend in San Angelo, Tex. to improve his season totals for the Aggies. The CU outfielder from Paris, Tex. owns a .304 batting average, 1.037 OPS, and has already hit three extra-base hits including a pair of homers.

This will be the first time the Aggies and Dustdevils matchup as Lone Star Conference foes on the diamond, but the two programs have already gotten together nine other times in program history. The Black and Gold lead the all-time series, 8-1, including a 2-1 weekend in Laredo, Texas a year ago.
After game one on Friday, the two teams will battle in a seven-inning doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., followed by the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. as well.
