Aggies welcome the Rattlers to McCord Field

LAWTON – The Aggies look to snap their losing streak when they host St. Mary's for a three-game series this weekend at McCord Field.

Cameron baseball led in all three-games of their road series against Oklahoma Christian last weekend, but was unable to secure a win, stretching their losing streak to five games and now five straight series. They look to change that tune this weekend when they welcome in the Rattlers to Lawton for a doubleheader on Friday and then a single game on Saturday.

Against the Eagles, the Aggie offense hit .284 with 10 home runs and 25 runs scored, all coming via RBI. The attack was led by Jayce Clem, who hit .500 with four homers and five RBI on the weekend, while Jordan Harrison-Dudley hit .400 with two homers and five RBI as well. CU is now hitting .240 on the year with 28 total home runs.

Clem leads the squad with a .405 average, which is second in the LSC, to go along with his eight home runs and team-leading 17 RBI. Beau Williams is the only other Aggie hitter with an average over .300 (.317).

Cameron's pitching staff has been strong lately with solid starts from Michael Womack, Tyler Cornett, and Marcos Feria in the past two series. However, control has been an issue for the Aggies this season as they have walked 156 batters, hit 55, and have thrown 27 wild pitches combined. Feria leads the squad with 46 strikeouts in 30 innings but has yet to earn a win. Cornett is second on the team with 30 K's in 25.2 innings, while Womack has held opposing hitters to just a .213 batting average.

The Black and Gold hosts a St. Mary's squad who is 14-14 on the year and 11-13 in conference play. They recently won a three-game series against Eastern New Mexico, winning 8-6 and 21-3 before falling in the series finale 9-5. The Rattlers are batting .291 with just nine home runs and 190 runs scored this season. They are a combined 42-56 on the base paths. StMU's pitching staff has combined for a 5.36 ERA with 199 strikeouts and a .274 batting average against.

Jake Mares is one of five Rattler hitters with a average over .300. The junior is batting .347 with 28 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Mitchell Caskey leads the squad with 27 RBI while hitting .327 and scoring 17 runs. On the mound, Zach De La Garza has been the workhorse, making nine starts with 53 strikeouts in 57 innings of work. Dylan Bells also has four wins with 37 K's in 43.1 innings of work.

Cameron and the Rattlers begin the series on Friday with a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at McCord Field with the second game to follow. Saturday's finale is also scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
