LAWTON – After splitting their first two series of the season, the Aggies face their biggest test of the season this weekend by visiting No. 5 West Texas A&M for four games.
Cameron opened their season with a split with Texas A&M-Kingsville and then split their first home series against St. Edward's last weekend. This week, they take on the fifth ranked Buffs, who have cruised to six straight wins to start their season.
This season, the Aggies are batting .260 with 44 runs scored and 17 extra-base hits.
Jayce Clem leads the way with a .360 average and six runs scored.
Jordan Harrison-Dudley is one of the biggest power threats in the Lone Star Conference, totaling three homes and 12 RBI with a .667 slugging percentage and a .323 batting average.
Tyler Coleman and
Erik Ohman are also batting over .300 with five runs scored each, while
Beau Williams is hitting .276 with seven RBI.
On the mound, Cameron has a staff ERA of 5.95 with 53 strikeouts and a .236 opponents' batting average.
Kalen Haynes is 2-0 with 11 K's and has given up just two runs in 11 innings of work.
Marcos Feria leads the team with 15 K's in 10.1 innings on the mound.
Drew Henderson has been solid out of the CU bullpen, giving up just two hits and no runs in seven innings.
As for West Texas A&M, they opened their season with dominant wins over CSU-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands before sweeping Eastern New Mexico in four games with dominant wins in the first two games and then close wins in the final two.
WT is batting .388 with 82 runs scored and 30 extra-base hits, including four homers. Catcher Kennedy Badgett leads the team with a .526 average to go along with seven RBI. Ryan Johnson has 12 RBI with a .476 average and Adam Becker is hitting .375 with 11 runs driven in. The Buffs have eight players who qualify that are hitting over .370.
The Buffs staff has a team ERA of 3.94 with 67 combined strikeouts and a .198 opponents' batting average. Transfer Nick Marshall has been dominant on the mound, striking out 13 batters and giving up just four hits and no earned runs in 10 innings. Maddox Hoaglund has struck out 12 batters in 8.2 innings of work, but also has an ERA of 5.19.
Game one of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday with the seven-inning doubleheader being played at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The series wraps up on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas. All four games will be available on the LSC Digital Network.
