LAWTON – Cameron baseball had a week off to recharge and are back in action this weekend as they visit UT Permian Basin for a four-game series starting Saturday afternoon in Odessa, Texas.
The series with UTPB has already gone through one change as the dates were pushed back a day going from a Friday-Saturday-Sunday series to a Saturday-Sunday-Monday slate. Additionally, the doubleheader on Sunday will occur at Momentum Bank Park in Midland, Texas with the other two being played at UTPB's Roden Field.
Cameron last played on March 1 when they lost to Southwestern Oklahoma State in the first half of their non-conference two-step against the Bulldogs. A day prior, CU swept a doubleheader against Eastern New Mexico at home, winning 3-1 and 10-8. They enter the week with a 6-9 overall record and a 6-8 Lone Star Conference mark.
As a team, the Aggies are batting .247 this season with 76 runs scored and 39 extra-base hits.
Jayce Clem leads the lineup with a .326 average and 13 runs scored while four other CU hitters (min. two PA/G in 75 percent of games) have averages over .270. One of those is
Jordan Harrison-Dudley, who has five homers and a team-best 21 RBI this spring.
Beau Williams,
Tyler Coleman, and
Ryan Allen are also threats in the CU lineup.
Kalen Haynes has been the most consistent starter on the mound for CU, posting a 3.79 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and a .203 opponents' batting average in 19 innings of work.
Drew Henderson has been close to un-hittable out of the bullpen with a .105 OBA in 11.1 innings spent on the mound while
Tyler Cornett and
Marcos Feria have the stuff to miss a lot of opposing bats. As a staff, CU has an ERA of 8.03 with 98 combined K's and a .281 OBA.
Cameron visits a UT Permian Basin squad who is 4-17 on the year and is coming off a 1-3 series against the Greyhounds last weekend. They are batting .257 as a team with 113 runs scored and 62 extra-base hits including 25 homers. Former Aggie Oswaldo Godina leads the power surge with five long balls and is batting .273 while Michael Clapperton has a team-best .329 average. The Falcons have a team-ERA of 9.24 and an OBA of .321. Trever Berg has struck out 21 batters in 24 innings while Parker Buys has a team-high 23 K's on the year.
Saturday's game one at Roden Field is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., as is the doubleheader in Midland on Sunday. The series finale against UTPB is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday back in Odessa. All four games are slated to be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network.
