LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University baseball team will host the Javelinas from Texas A&M-Kingsville for a three game series, April 11-12.

After winning one out of three of their games with Angelo State last weekend, the Aggies are 12-20 overall and 7-14 in Lone Star Conference play, which has them one game back of Tarleton State for fifth place in the LSC standings.

Cameron is hitting .254 with a .325 slugging percentage and a .338 on base percentage. Brad Blumer is leading the team with a .314 average and 33 hits. Codey McElroy is hitting just over .300 with a .305 average and a team high three homers and 23 runs. McElroy is also tied for fourth in the conference with a .524 slugging percentage, and is tied for second in doubles with 10.

On the mound, CU has a 4.72 team ERA with 145 total strikeouts and an opponents' batting average of .288. A two-hit shutout from Brian Schwabe in game two of the ASU series now has him at 2-2 with a 2.98 ERA and in the top-10 of multiple pitching categories in the LSC. This week he was named LSC Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance, joining teammates Drew Reidt (4-5 with a 3.02 ERA) and Steve Matta (2-3 with a 6.87 ERA), who both earned the honor earlier this season.

The Javelinas are currently in second place in the LSC standings with a 24-13 overall record and a 15-8 conference slate. They are hitting .285 as a team and have a team ERA of 2.86. They have eight players hitting above .300, with Ryan Guedry leading the way with a .339 average, followed closely by Derrick Walls at .338. Walls leads the team in runs scored and hits, while Clint Wallace has a team high 24 RBI. On the mound, Denver Diefenbach (7-1 with a 2.32 ERA and 36 strikeouts) and Dallas Ponder (4-1 with a 3.05 ERA and 54 strikeouts) are solid front of the rotation pitchers in a pitching staff that is solid all around.

The series will consist of a double header (one seven inning game and one nine inning game) starting at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11, and will conclude with a single nine inning game at noon on Saturday, April 12.

Cameron will remain home for their next matchup as they will come back to McCord Field on Tuesday, April 15 for a single nine inning game with Southwestern Oklahoma State.
