Baseball set for home-and-home series with Oklahoma Christian

LAWTON, Okla. – The Aggie baseball team will look to stay hot as they enter their third and final home-and-home series this weekend by taking on Oklahoma Christian.

Cameron moved to 10-1 after sweeping a three game series with William Jewell last weekend, winning Friday's contest 5-1, and had two come from behind wins on Saturday.

In the series opener, Reid Garrett pitched all nine innings allowing five hits and one run while striking out four batters to earn the complete game win on the mound. The following day, the Aggies took game one of the doubleheader 5-2 from a Victor DeJesus walk off grand slam and won the nightcap 9-8 following a five run seventh inning rally with Cole Williams and Anthony Acevedo each batting in three runs. Javarias Banks appeared in the seventh inning and allowed just one run and hit, then set down the next six batters in order to earn the win.

Acevedo led the Aggies offensively during the series, batting .556 with a .889 slugging percentage. He accounted for 4 RBI and highlighted with his second homerun of the season with a two run shot in the series finale. He is hitting .324 on the season with 8 RBI. Cody Bower continues to be a force for Cameron at the plate as he leads them in multiple categories including slugging percentage (.905), runs scored (15), hits (20) and doubles (5).

They will be competing against a 6-6 OCU team who is 1-0 on the road and 3-4 on their home field. Most recently on Tuesday, the Eagles split a double header with Northwestern Oklahoma State, winning game one 5-1 but falling in the nightcap 6-3. Hayden Strobel leads the Eagles at the plate batting .370 and behind him is Lane Paul and Garrett Wages both hitting .357. Meanwhile, Isaac Holt has Heartland Conference high seven sacrifice bunts.

Kolton Brown (5-2) leads the OCU pitching staff with a 4.85 ERA and holds opponents to a .275 batting average. Jake Moore has recorded two saves so far.

The Aggies will play a single game at OCU at 2 p.m. on Friday and wrap up the series at McCord Field on Saturday with a noon double header start.
