Baseball faces UTPB in three game series

Game Note: Game one of this series will be on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. in Midland, Texas at Christianson Field, while games two and three will be on Saturday, Feb. 21 in Odessa, Texas starting at noon.

The Starting Five
1. This is the second year in a row that the Falcons and Aggies have squared off in Odessa, as UTPB won three out of four against CU last season.
2. The contests UT-Permian Basin are the first of a eight game road trip, as CU will head to McMurry and Angelo State next.
3. The second and sixth innings have been trouble spots for CU with 24 runs given up.
4. CU is hitting .241 with runners in scoring position and .692 with runners on third with less than two outs.
5. Cameron was first to start their 2015 season in the Lone Star Conference.

CU Notebook
- Cameron's roster consists of over 30 new players to the program this spring who will be led by first year Head Coach Brady Huston.
- Tyler Cook is leading CU with a .333 batting average, and has three extra base hits.
- Bryan Belote has tossed 13.1 innings and has a 2.03 ERA with 11 strikeouts.
- Cameron was picked sixth in the Lone Star Conference despite finishing two games back of fourth place during the 2014 season.
- In 2014, the Aggies had the most players to sign with professional organizations in the South Central region with three (Codey McElroy, Tobin Mateychick, and Drew Reidt).
- Brady Huston is only fourth different coach to lead the program in the last 39 seasons.

UT-Permian Basin (8-2)
-The Falcons have a record of 8-2, they are 4-0 at home beating Southwest New Mexico 7 times and Sul Ross State once.
- UTPB has a team batting average of .354 with a total of 110 hits, 70 runs scored, and 52 RBIs. They have a fielding percentage of .947 with only 18 errors on the season. Their pitching staff has a team era of 3.86 with 67 strike outs combined.
- Pitcher Chris Cano currently holds an era of 0.64 in two games and has struck out 16 batters in 14 innings. He has allowed only 8 hits, 1 run scored, and has only walked 3 batters, and has a complete game under his belt.
- Outfielder Colin Kowal has gone 14-29 at the plate with a batting average of .483. He has hit 3 doubles and 2 triples, while knocking in 8 RBIs. In the field, he has had no errors with 15 put outs.
- The Falcons were picked seventh out of 10 Heartland conference teams. UTPB finished last season 23-27 with a 14-16 conference record and finished tied with UA Fort Smith for the fourth and final spot into the Heartland Conference championships, missing out on a tie-breaker.
- Brian Reinke is the head coach for the UTPB Falcons baseball team. This year he has a roster of 41 players, 7 of which are redshirts.

Last Time Out
- Cameron won three out of four against NW Missouri State, winning games one (5-2), three (6-1), and four (9-4).
- Codey Upton went the full seven innings of game one, giving up only one earned run on five hits while striking out seven. He then went 3-5 with a run scored and two RBI in game four of the series.
- Justin Winters had four of his seven RBI this season in games three and four against the Bearcats.
- In game three, Dirk Masters went all seven innings, and only allowed one run on two hits, while striking out five.
- Bryan Belote threw five scoreless innings in game four, allowing seven hits, and striking out six NW Missouri batters.

Coming Up
Cameron will play a single game against McMurry on Feb. 24 in Abilene, Texas and then will play a four game series against Angelo State Feb. 27-Mar. 1 in San Angelo, Texas.
