Aggies face tough road contests this week at ASU

Game Notes: The series with Angelo State have been pushed back a day because of weather and will start on Saturday, Feb. 28 and lasting till Monday, Mar. 2.

The Starting Five
1.    The Aggies were slated to play at McMurry on Feb. 25 but the contest was called off due to poor field conditions 
2.    Cameron's series with Angelo State will be their first taste of Lone Star Conference action this season.
3.    The first, second, and sixth innings have been trouble spots for CU with 37 runs given up, while their scoring is spread throughout the first seven innings, with 10 runs scored in the fifth inning.
4.     CU has a conference leading 55 walks, and is second in the LSC with 12 stolen bases.
5.     Angelo State and McMurry played each other earlier this season in a two game series that was split, with ASU winning game one 8-4, and McMurry winning game two 3-2.

CU Notebook
-Cameron's roster consists of over 30 new players to the program this spring who will be led by first year Head Coach Brady Huston.
-Cody Knight is leading CU with a .375 batting average, and has Cameron's only homer of the young season.
-Dirk Masters has been dominate in his past two starts, recording two wins while going 14 innings, giving up only two runs on four hits with 13 strikeouts.
-Cameron was picked sixth in the Lone Star Conference despite finishing two games back of fourth place during the 2014 season.
-In 2014, the Aggies had the most players to sign with professional organizations in the South Central region with three (Codey McElroy, Tobin Mateychick, and Drew Reidt).
-Brady Huston is only fourth different coach to lead the program in the last 39 seasons.

Angelo State (10-1)
-The Rams have won nine straight at home, and their only loss was to McMurry in the second game of the season, 3-2.
-ASU has a LSC leading .346 with a .535 slugging percentage and a .414 on base percentage. They have scored 82 runs and 43 extra base hits, including 11 homers already this season.
-On the mound, Angelo State is leading the league with a 2.77 ERA, with 113 total strikeouts and a .272 opposing batting average.
-J.C. Snyder leads the Rams at the plate with a .474 batting average, and has a .842 slugging percentage with two 10 out of his 18 hits being extra base hits. He also has 10 RBI and 11 runs scored.
-The trio of Steve Naemark, Bryce Zak, and Blake Bass have combined for eight of the teams 10 wins. Naemark is 2-0 in 24 innings pitched, with a 1.13 ERA and 38 strikeouts. Zak is 3-1 with a 1.26 ERA in 14 innings pitched with 24 punch outs. Bass is a perfect 3-0 on the season with a 1.57 ERA in 23 innings pitched with 21 strikeouts.
 
Last Time Out
-Last weekend the Aggies won two out of three against UT-Permian Basin on the road, taking games one and two 8-5 and 4-1, and then falling in game three 9-7.
-Cody Knight powered the Aggies with seven hits, three RBI, and two runs scored in the three game series and also hit CU's first home run of the season in the game three loss.
-Tyler Cook and Matt Nilmeyer both had five RBI in the series, with Cook collecting four hits to give him a team leading 11 on the season, and Nilmeyer also scoring six runs in the three game series.
-In game one, Cody Upton earned the win and is 2-0, while Jake Winters and Logan Fanning pitched perfect eighth and ninth innings, with Fanning getting the save.
-Dirk Masters got his second win of the season in game two, going six innings, giving up only one run on two hits, and striking out eight, while Fanning earned his second save after another perfect inning.
 
Coming Up
Cameron will return home for their first of five LSC home series, as they host Texas A&M-Kingsville, Mar. 6-8, in a four game series.
