Aggies return to action against Oklahoma Christian

LAWTON, Okla. – The Aggie baseball team will get their first taste of action in over a week as they face Oklahoma Christian for a home-and-home three game series Friday and Saturday, March 2-3.

The series will begin with the two teams playing a doubleheader in Oklahoma City on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. The third and final game of the series will be played in Lawton beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Cameron has started off the season 7-3. They have had a long break from action as all three of their games last week and their game against Oklahoma Baptist this week were nixed because of weather. In the Aggies last series they lost a three game slate to Northwest Missouri State 2-1.

The Aggies are hitting .258 as a team with 55 runs scored and four homers. Trey Bigford leads the team with a .364 average, while tying with Micah Kaaukai for a team leading 12 hits and nine runs scored. Colton Adams leads CU with 10 RBI and two homers while Cole Williams is batting .314 with seven RBI.

On the mound, the Black and Gold has a team ERA of 3.62 in 82 innings of work and 77 total strikeouts. Reid Garrett leads CU with three wins in 20 innings off work with 21 strikeouts, while Andrew Garza has a 2.37 ERA in 19 innings of work with 19 punchouts. Sean Maher has been clutch out of the bullpen, striking out 16 in just 10.1 innings of work.

Oklahoma Christian is just 2-5 on the young season, as they haven't played a game since February 9 when they split a doubleheader at OBU. However, they do have an 8-3 win over then No. 8 Emporia State and battled then No. 20 Angelo State in an 11-8 loss. The Eagles are batting .281 as a team with 51 runs scored and five total homers. They also have a team ERA of 6.68 with 66 strikeouts in 60.2 innings of work.

Individually, Chad Kennedy leads OC with a .429 average, 11 runs, 13 RBI. He already has two homers and triples in his first seven games of the season. Jake Collins has also had a strong start to the year, batting .379 with seven RBI and five runs scored.

On the mound, Oklahoma Christian has used a host of pitchers, with Gabe Rodery leading the team with 11 innings pitched. Rodery is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA and 16 strikeouts, while his teammate, Mason McAlister has 12 strikeouts in just seven innings of work.

Following their series with the Eagles, Cameron will be back at McCord Field on Tuesday, March 6, as they host Southeastern Oklahoma State for a single game beginning at 2 p.m.
