LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron baseball will play their final home series of the 2018 season, debut their new lights, and recognize their four seniors as they host Tarleton State for a four game series this weekend, April 27-29.
The Series:
The four game set will begin on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as the Aggies debut their brand new lights, supplied by a donation from the McMahon Foundation. There will be a dedication ceremony before the start of the game with Ole Kim turning on the switch to power the new lights. Also, Bar-S and Arvest Bank have teamed up to provide FREE hotdogs all night and Cameron will have FREE t-shirts available (to CU Students first) saying "It's Lit" to commemorate the lighting of McCord Field.
CU and TSU will continue their series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Prior the first game, the Cameron baseball program will honor their four seniors,
Reid Garrett,
Skyler Henderson,
Micah Kaaukai, and
Cole Williams, for their hard work on and off the field.
The last game of the series and the last CU home game will be on Sunday, April 29, starting at 1 p.m. Live stats will be provided for all four contests, while cameronaggies.com will stream game one and four and the Oklahoma Sports Network will be in attendance for the doubleheader on Saturday.
About the Aggies:
Cameron is 15-24 on the season and 5-11 in league play, but have lost five straight and not played since April 16. They are batting .252 with 183 runs scored and 17 homers. CU also has a team ERA of 7.20 with 240 total strikeouts in 302.1 innings on the mound.
Luke Hughes is batting .301 and is the lone Aggie hitting over .300; he has a team best 41 hits and is top-10 in the LSC with 12 stolen bases.
Cole Williams is hitting .273 and is ranked in the top-10 of the conference with six homers and 14 doubles. Additionally,
Trey Bigford leads CU with 27 runs scored and
Colton Adams is sixth in the LSC with 15 stolen bases.
On the mound,
Reid Garrett is 6-3 with 50 strikeouts in 62.2 innings, while
Andrew Garza has 53 Ks in 59.2 innings of work.
Skyler Henderson and
Sean Maher rank in the top-10 in the LSC in saves, as the two submarine pitchers have combined for 80 strikeouts in 75.2 total innings.
Across the Diamond:
Tarleton State is 29-15 overall and 14-6 in conference play, which has them currently in second place in the LSC standings. Most recently, the Texans split a four game series against No. 6 West Texas A&M. Senior pitcher Conner Fletcher was named the LSC and NABC South Central Region Pitcher of the week after tossing seven innings of one-run, two-hit baseball and striking out 12 Buffs while handing WT their first conference loss.
The Texans are led by Blake Adams and Francisco Rodriguez, who are ranked two and three in the conference, hitting over .380. Adams also leads the LSC in slugging percentage (.760), on base percentage (.527), runs scored (60), runs batted in (57), and home runs (14). Four other TSU hitters rank in the top-10 in the league in homers with Rodriguez, Jake Hasbrouck, and Jared McCarver each having eight and Dylan Lemons hitting six bombs.
TSU's pitching staff is loaded with arms. Connor Flanagan owns the fourth best ERA in the LSC at 1.93, while going 2-0 with 22 Ks in 23.1 innings of work. Fletcher, is 6-1 with a 3.07 ERA with 58 Ks, while Nathan Hickey is 8-2 with 76 strikeouts and a 3.17 ERA and Evan Pontley is 7-2 with 64 strikeouts in 67.2 innings pitched. Eddie Avila has a LSC best 12 saves with a strikeout to walk ratio of 34-7.
On Deck:
Cameron will wrap up their season with their final four game LSC when they visit Texas A&M-Kingsville, March 4-6.
