Cameron Athletics Hall of Fame
Keith Lavender began his collegiate football career at Cameron State Agricultural College in 1964 where he helped the Aggies to a national championship runner-up title at the Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Additionally, in 1965 he was a Junior College All-American team honorable mention. Lavender returned to Cameron in 1968 to join the football coaching staff and was the head coach for the Aggies during the 1979 and 1980 seasons.  He coached the Aggies to a win at the 1980 Boot Hill Bowl title in Dodge City, Kan. by beating Adams State by a score of 34-16 and would step down as CU's head coach in the Spring of 1981 but remained a part of the campus faculty up until his retirement in 2007. Lavender passed away on Feb. 2015 at the age of 69.
