Cameron Athletics Hall of Fame
Bennett played basketball at Cameron from 1967 to 1971. Nicknamed "Sugar Bear," he was the first player in Cameron basketball history to start for all four years. He is fourth on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,599 points, averaging 15.5 per game.
Since leaving Cameron, he recorded a 36-year coaching record of 726 wins and 484 losses, leading his team to a state championship in 1994 and just missing out by finishing second in 2003. Bennett retired from coaching in 2007.Â
